Mission & Vision

Minute Man is a program that is facilitated by the Northwest Ministry Network for the benefit of NWMN churches with average attendance of under 125 and other recognized NW Missions Ministries.

The vision is to remove the structural obsticles these churches face when ministering to their community by helping them build larger facilities or update and repair older facilities. 

The scope of the program is limited to costs associated with ministry facilities, such as new construction, property purchase, remodeling, and significant repairs and/or building maintenance.
 

PROCESS

Up to three times per year an appeal letter is sent from the NWMN office to our Churches, Ministers and Minute Man Members to assist with approved projects. 
 

PROCEDURE

For a project to be considered, submit a completed Minute Man Application (downloadable application is found below).
The NW Missions Leadership Team will consider applications twice a year.  If a submitted project is approved,  funds will be available following the letter appeal.  Funds reimbursed as the project work is completed for a period of one year.

Thank you to our generous Northwest Ministry Network Churches, Ministers and Minute Man Members who have assisted our Northwest Missions Ministries with approximately $6,000 per appeal.

Current Projects

This summer we are raising funds to help two churches. If you travel to the far western edge of the state then follow HWY 101 to the bottom tip of Washington, you will find a beautiful historic fishing town called Ilwaco. In that town, Pastor John & Sundrea Thomas lead New Life Assembly of God in their many community-focused activities that have made the church an integral part of the community.

New Life AG has an incredible relationship with their community. They provide a pancake breakfast and free parking for the annual Black Lake Fishing Derby that happens across the street from their building. They host and organize baccalaureate celebrations for Ilwaco High School and Ocean Beach Options Academy, the local alternative high school, and they offer an annual New Life Church Character Scholarship to a graduating senior. With New Life’s passion for people and their community they started a program called Becky’s Place that offers help and support to women who are struggling with life-controlling issues, such as substance abuse, self-harm, eating disorders, and abusive relationships.

New Life AG has been told by their insurance company that they must replace their roof, or their building will be uninsurable. The congregation in Ilwaco has been working hard to raise funds and we can help them bring in the final amount needed to get the job going so it can be completed before the insurance company’s deadline.

After visiting the southwest corner of the state, head back north until you reach “the end of the road” at the far northwest tip of the Olympic Peninsula. There, you will find yourself in Neah Bay on the Makah reservation. In that community Pastor John & Gail McClane lead Neah Bay Assembly of God in ministry to the Makah tribe as well as to the greater native communities in Washington through the church’s participation in the American Indian Fellowship ministries.

Neah Bay Assembly of God started as a gathering of believers meeting in rented tents on a lot leased to them from the tribe in 1944. In 1959 they entered into a building project and finally began to meet in the solid structure that they still meet in today. Now 65 years later there are significant repairs that need to be made. The siding needs repairs and replacement, then will need to be painted. They also need to replace the windows that have lost their seal and have moisture & fog between the panes. Doug Knox is going to bring a team out to Neah Bay to provide labor, but they need your help to purchase the supplies needed for such an expansive project. This refreshment to their exterior will bring a refreshing spirit to their congregation giving them more excitement and energy to bring hope to their community.

These two churches need our help to make these repairs a reality. We will be collecting funds to go towards these projects until October 31st, but the sooner we receive funds, the sooner we can get them to the churches to start purchasing supplies and arranging for the work to begin. Any contributions received after October 31st or in excess of these projects’ needs will be applied to other approved Minute Man projects especially those with urgent needs.
